The ideal path to fulfilling the HSUHK English Language Competency Requirement is:
- Take ENG2000 IELTS Five-Day Workshops, or any other IELTS workshops offered by the ELC to understand the format and requirement of the Test;
- Practice and prepare BEFORE taking IELTS; and
- Take the IELTS (Academic Test).
- ENG2000 is a non-credit-bearing series of workshops.
- The registration of ENG2000 will be done via the module registration system.
- NO ADD/DROP will be allowed after module registration.
- All students are required to complete a compulsory IELTS mock practice during the first class in Week 1. No makeup arrangement for the mock examination will be made. Medical certificate is needed for sick leave approval
- ONLY sign up if you can be committed to ALL sessions in a group.
- ENG2000 is on a first-come, first-served basis (Max: around 25 students per class).
- Late application will not be considered.
- To be considered completing ENG2000, you must achieve 100% attendance. Please make sure that your timetable/ schedule allows you to all 15 hours.
- If you have not fulfilled 100% attendance, you will be charged HK$500 as the course fee.
- If you have successfully been given a place but do not attend any workshop, you will still be charged HK$500 as the course fee.
- Any absence, early leave, or late-coming without a legitimate reason will still be considered NOT completing ENG2000. You may need to join ENG2000 again, all 15 hours once again.
- A student will be deemed as absent from class if s/he fails to seek prior approval from the module teacher for not attending the full lesson with a valid reason.
