Teach to Learn: HSUHK English Student Coach Project

The Teach to Learn Project focuses on training HSUHK students to provide additional English language support to primary and secondary school students who struggle in English. The project, which started in 2021, has since expanded from its initial focus on Chiu Chow Association Secondary School to two more primary schools based in the Ma On Shan district, and currently serving 3 schools, Ma On Shan St. Joseph’s Primary School, PLK Chong Kee Ting Primary School and Chiu Chow Association Secondary School respectively. The initiative of this project was to enhance the HSUHK students’ coaching skills, enabling them to make a meaningful impact on the community. Recognizing English as a crucial tool for global communication and personal advancement, the project aims to create valuable educational experiences that foster growth and bridge gaps within the community.

The project was generously funded by Ms. Wendy Fung, who zealously promotes the importance of learning English for expanding knowledge about the world and fostering global communication. Ms. Fung believes that mastering English not only enhances personal growth but also opens up numerous opportunities in both academic and professional realms. Through her support, the project aims to provide opportunities to help individuals improve their English skills and, in turn, broaden their horizons.

The Teach to Learn project showcase was held on June 21, 2025, at Chiu Chow Association Secondary School. Students from three participating schools presented engaging performances that highlighted their learning outcomes. The event welcomed donors and representatives from Ma On Shan St. Joseph’s Primary School, PLK Chong Kee Ting Primary School, Chiu Chow Association Secondary School, and The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.

Prizes and certificates were awarded to the participating students, including sponsorships for Ocean Park Hong Kong: Life-wide Learning Journey Student Group Tickets. A highlight video has been released, allowing audiences to relive the memorable moments of the event.

More updates on the project to follow.
