The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English (BA-ENG) programme at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong is designed to help students build a sound knowledge foundation in English Literature and Linguistics. It covers a diverse range of modules aiming to cultivate critical thinking and a deep understanding of human experience through the most important literary and cultural texts and narratives from part to present and across continents. During your four years with us, you will explore various types of English texts, such as prose, fiction, drama, poetry, and film, and learn to analyse them through a variety of literary and cultural theoretical frameworks. As you progress into your senior years, you will have the chance to specialise your research interests in literary or linguistic studies, receive training in scholarly rigour, develop your own insights and perspectives, and craft your own literary voice.

The integration of Business Management modules and English Education elements makes our programme unique with both academic and practical relevance, while enhancing your employability profile.

This is a four-year degree programme and there are two semesters of 15 weeks per year. Each academic year comprises two 15-week semesters. Each module carries three credits, with each credit requiring a minimum of 15 contact hours. Students are required to study at least 40 modules of 120 credits over 4 years.

There are four areas of study – English Studies, Business Studies, Common Core, and Free Electives.
