The International Conference on Green Language Education: Advancing Environmental Literacy Through Sustainable Language Teaching and Learning was successfully held from 15 to 17 July 2026 at The Create, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
Co-organised by the Department of English at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and the School of Arts and Humanities at Tung Wah College, the three-day conference brought together scholars, educators, and practitioners from around the world to explore the role of language education in promoting environmental literacy and sustainable development. Through keynote presentations, research presentations, and panel discussions, participants engaged in meaningful exchanges on innovative approaches, emerging research directions, and best practices in green language education.
The conference welcomed over 120 participants in both face-to-face and online formats, with delegates representing 16 regions across the globe. The strong international participation highlighted the growing importance of integrating sustainability into language teaching and learning, while also demonstrating the commitment of the academic community to advancing this timely and interdisciplinary field.
A highlight of the conference was the series of keynote presentations and the closing panel discussion, where leading scholars shared insights into the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of green language education. The event also provided an invaluable platform for participants to establish connections, exchange ideas, and develop potential collaborations.

The conference also celebrated the strong partnership between The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and Tung Wah College. Professor Mok Ka-ho, Joshua, Provost and Vice-President (Academic & Research) of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, presented a commemorative souvenir to Professor Sally Chan, President of Tung Wah College, in recognition of the fruitful collaboration that made the event possible.
