Sponsored by the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the Department of English held an English Summer Camp from 15 July to 29 July 2019 for HSUHK students and students from Dapu County Tin Ka Ping Experimental High School. The aim was to encourage students to take part in the actual execution of cultural preservation, as well as boosting students’ English proficiency and confidence in speaking English.
The students visited Sam Tung Uk, Wong Uk Village and Tsang Tai Uk during the Hakka Heritage Tour. They also visited Tin Ka Ping Foundation and interviewed the chairman, Mr TIN Hing Sin, to learn the importance of Hakka virtues for Hakka people to survive and thrive in Hong Kong. Led by HSUHK student leaders, the attendees created their own English videocasts on promoting Hakka culture.
